Club Philosophy

The Sandhurst Football Netball Club has based its structure around the belief that the development of junior players into senior footballers and netballers is the pathway to continuing success.

Our emphasis on junior development is well known throughout the sporting fraternity.  The clubs objectives do not stop at developing sporting skills alone, in our young players.   Characteristics that are encouraged and developed in our young players include; self respect and self discipline, love of the Club, respect for peers, coaches and others involved in the Club and finally, the ideal vision for the future in both life, sport and employment.

The SFNC will endeavour to provide an environment where participants can:

  • Learn and develop the skills and ethics of football and netball.
  • Receive coaching from appropriately trained coaches.
  • Have fun and form long-lasting friendships with peers sharing similar goals.
  • Be supported by the club, their peers, coaches and parents.
  • Be provided with a pathway enabling them to achieve their potential.

The SFNC will also endeavour to ensure:

  • Training focuses on skill acquisition.
  • Enjoyment of training and matches.
  • Desire for personal improvement.
  • Demonstrate a sense of team/club.
  • Goals are both performance and outcome based.
  • Team strategy/tactics and mental skills are refined.
  • Understanding the competitive nature of weekly team selection.
  • To take responsibility both collectively and individually for performance outcomes.

The Club will not tolerate behaviour that may bring disrepute to the player or the Club.

The Sandhurst Football Netball Club is very much a family Club.   The number of siblings that have played together clearly illustrates this fact.

A Club with as much history as Sandhurst is well aware of the importance of its past deeds and traditions.   Regular reunions mean that the Club keeps alive its past while keeping an eye on the future.

The Sandhurst Football Netball Club is affiliated with the AFL Victorian and Netball Victoria and therefore follows their policies and guidelines such as Junior Policy, Risk Management and Member Protection; including Codes of Behaviour.
